The new Content division at Imagina US, headed by its CEO Derek Bond, will consider stories ranging from books to original ideas. “As long as they stories that need to be told, we will consider them. Our role is to be storytellers,” Bond told PRODU during a visit to his office in Miami. He said everything is allowed: “Right now, drug trafficking telenovelas, the super series, are what’s in. We will obviously attack that market and all future markets. One aspect of television I’ve always believed in is doing things audiences don’t yet know they want.”He added that one of the factors that motivated him to join Imagina US was the “fantastic” job Roger Huguet and Juan Pablo Santos did with Juan Camilo Ferrand and the creation of The Story Nest. “I think is a fantastic opportunity for both parties to create high quality content for the U.S. Hispanic audience and for Latin America and the rest of the world thereafter. I’m hoping to be able to contribute on production, distribution, and obviously pushing the right stories. I always wanted to make TV for my son who is perfectly bilingual so this is sort of an aspiration for me to work with talented people like Juan Camilo Ferrand and making sure those stories are told properly,” added Bond.He said that most likely Imagina US would have something more concrete to show clients at Natpe 2015, but that the team is already working on a good list of projects.
