In a memo sent this week, Stephen Burke, NBCUniversal´s CEO, announced that Bonnie Hammer is assuming responsibility for the entire cable entertainment portfolio, which will be renamed the Cable Entertainment Group while Lauren Zalaznick is being named executive vice president, NBCUniversal, focusing on innovation, digital, monetization and emerging technology across the company. Burke also mentioned that ex Univision´s Joe Uva is joining NBCUniversal in the newly created role of Chairman, Hispanic Enterprises and Content.Joe Uva will be responsible for expanding our Hispanic franchise and all of our Hispanic content efforts, including Telemundo and mun2, as well as for increasing the presence of Hispanic news and entertainment programming across all of NBCUniversals networks and platforms. The NBCUniversal properties reach more than 90 percent of all Hispanics, more than any other media company, and our programming needs to be reflective of our nations 50 million Hispanics, the fastest-growing segment of the population. Joe will work with our news and entertainment executives so our coverage better represents this shifting landscape. Emilio Romano, president of Telemundo and mun2, and his team have done a terrific job driving success at these networks, and they now will report to Joe, says Burke in the letter.Uva most recently spent four years as the president and Chief Executive Officer of Univision Communications, Inc. and prior to that he was the president and Chief Executive Officer of OMD Worldwide Group, overseeing all of OMDs operations. Before joining OMD, Uva spent many years at Turner as the president of Entertainment Group Sales and Marketing for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.
