Luis Silberwasser appointed Chairman and CEO of Sports Business at Warner Bros. Discovery

Luis Silberwasser entered Warner Bros. Discovery as Chairman and CEO of Sports Business.

Silberwasser served as president of Univision Television Networks US Group since January 2021, supervising the company’s open TV and cable channels in the US, which include the entertainment, news, and sports content divisions

Wade Davis, CEO of TelevisaUnivision thanked Silberwasser for “his leadership in expanding the audience leadership of the Univisión network and of the company’s entire portfolio of open TV and pay-TV channels. I want to personally wish him good luck in his new ventures”.

In his new position, Silberwasser, who worked for years at Discovery supervising international programming, will become one of the most influential executives in sports media, he will lead the company’s national sports portfolio and supervise a unified global sports strategy. The recently merged company gathers Discovery’s sports operation outside the US, and assets such as Eurosport, with the national portfolio that includes Turner Sports and the digital brand Bleacher Report. The company has the rights to the NBA, NHL, Major League Baseball, and the NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, as well as the Olympic Games.
