Mario San Román of Azteca América presents new realities at the network’s upfront in NYC

San Román: We understand Mexican ideals and sentiments

At the Azteca América upfront Mario San Román, CEO, presented a new set of original reality shows designed to renovate and impact the network’s programming. The new reality Yo quiero ser grupero, which will search for new music artists for the northern Mexican genre, headed the list of the new programming presented to agencies and clients gathered in the penthouse of the Standard hotel in New York City. “We need to undergo a great change, and nobody like us can do it because we understand Mexican ideals and sentiments” San Román said. Other new reality programs include La isla and La academia. Also added to their programming lineup is the late-night talk show El pelado de la noche and the Mexican original Huevos. Gaby Spanic, the star of the novela Emperatriz flew from Mexico City to be present at the upfront. Emperatriz is set to air at 1pm on Azteca América, promoting that time slot of telenovelas.
