Olympusat: The next step is to distribute CubaPlay in Florida

After 5 years in Cablevision Optimum, New York and Liberty Cablevision, Puerto Rico, CubaPlay continues its expansion.Jesús Piñango, director of TV Content Strategy at Olympusat told PRODU “the next step is to distribute CubaPlay in the state of Florida, where most Cubans are based in the US”.The executive commented that this launch, which will be officially announce in early August, would be done through the OTT platform Olympusat: Vemox. In the first phase it would be available in the US and then in the second stage, would expand to Latin America.CubaPlay was launched in 2010 bringing distinctive Cuban-made entertainment to US latino homes. Its content, never seen in the US until now, includes movies (over 300 Cuban titles), comedies, drama series, musicals, documentaries on culture, history and art, telenovelas, and cartoon series for kids.Some of the films are Boccaccerías Habaneras, Miel Para Oshún and La Bella Del Alhambra, plus independent movies honored in the Havana Film Festival.“Our aim is to stay ahead of the curve in a rapidly changing connected world, and bring an unparalleled entertainment experience to our viewers. We always knew that there was a huge audience yearning for Cuban-made television,” stated Tom Mohler, Olympusat’s CEO & president. “With distinctive networks such as CubaPlay, our company reinforces the diversity of the Hispanic American audience, both culturally and geographically.”Olympusat is capitalizing on its well-established relationships with Cuban broadcasters and filmmakers, to expand the reach of CubaPlay Televisión into new markets.
