Online video distribution and audience behavior are topics at the annual Multicultural TV Breakfast at INTX on May 6

Programming and marketing executives from pay TV providers like Comcast, Cox, DIRECTV and Verizon will join others from ethnically-targeted programmers like REVOLT, Mediaset Italia, and Asia TV’s Zee TV, as well as multicultural content distributors like Condista and Olympusat, as the featured participants at the Multicultural TV Breakfast at INTX, the Internet & Television expo. The theme of the breakfast program is “Awaking the sleeping giant – The power of multicultural audience segments”. This popular event is presented by Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News, on Wednesday morning, May 6, 2015, starting at 7:45am (CT) in Room 183A-West McCormick Place in Chicago. Louis Hillelson, VP and Group publisher for Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News, said in a statement: “The Internet, combined with the popularity of personalized viewing devices like smartphones, is changing how individuals enjoy watching television. Audiences that identify by ethnicity or nationality or culture, over-index for the use of smartphones by comparison to the general market. As a result, multicultural viewers are very important to the TV industry.” Breakfast attendees will awaken to messages about a new day for television providers. They will hear how multicultural viewers are no longer a nice to have consumer; and are now a need to have segment. The program is focused on how the industry is responding to this opportunity within two (2) 30-minute, moderated conversations. One discussion addresses content distribution and the other will discuss the cost benefits for attracting particular audience segments.
