After the departure of José Roberto Arango as interim president of RCN Televisión, the channel has now appointed Paulo Laserna as his successor, with the mission of taking RCN to the first audience places, after facing a rating crisis compared to its competitor.

Paulo Laserna, a Colombian journalist, political scientist, television presenter, and businessman, was the founder of RCN in 1998 when he set up Noticias RCN and was president of Caracol Televisión from September 2002 until February 2011.

As a journalist, he worked at Caracol Radio, QAP Noticias, Noticiero Nacional and RCN Televisión, where he created the program La Noche. He presented the news magazine En La Línea and the humor program Los Reencauchados (Colombian version of Spitting Image) in the 1990s. From 2000 until 2011, he was the presenter of the Colombian version of the contest ¿Quién Quiere Ser Millonario? In 2015, he returned to Caracol Radio, as a member of the program La Luciérnaga, now directed by Gustavo Gómez Córdoba.

He studied International Relations at the Instituto de Estudios Políticos de París, Ciencia Política y Alta Gerencia of the Universidad de los Andes, and holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University. He was councilman of Bogota and adviser of Andrés Pastrana Arango during his candidacy to the city hall of the Colombian capital in 1988.
