Roku’s free streaming service is now available on the web

Roku announced that its free, ad-supported streaming service, The Roku Channel, is now available on the web to view on PCs, tablets and smartphones.

Before users only had access to the channel if they had a Roku TV or transmission device.

After creating a Roku account on TheRokuChannel.com, the person can start watching the movies, TV shows and short videos offered by the service. The Roku channel presents free movies from studios such as Paramount, Sony Pictures, Lionsgate and Warner Bros. although they are not the most updated.

There is also live news from ABC News, Newsy, PeopleTV and Cheddar, among other partners. The Roku Channel supports Roku to increase its number of user accounts and grow its advertising business.
