Sony Pictures Entertainment held its screening in Los Angeles, where it presented its first English-spoken production made in Brazil: Rio Connection. Keith Le Goy, Chairman of Worldwide Distribution & Networks, hosted the event along with John Rossiter, Executive VP of Latin America, and other senior executives.

Rio connection (eight chapters), is a co-production with Floresta and Globo that tells the story of three organized crime figures during the 70s on the loose who meet in Brazil with new identities in order to tropicalize the mafia. Adriana “Dida” Silva, Elisabetta Zenatti and Silvio de Abreu are the executive producers, and Mauro Lima (João, o Maestro, 4×100: Correndo por um Sonho) is the director.

Another highlight is Accused (12 episodes), a criminal anthology that examines human frailty in our times. It is executive produced by Howard Gordon (Homeland, 24), Alex Gansa (Homeland), Glenn Geller (America’s Most Wanted), David Shore (The Good Doctor, House), and Erin Gunn (The Good Doctor).

They also presented: A Spy Among Friends (six chapters), the true story of British spies and friends, Nicholas Elliott and Kim Philby, one of whom was betraying the other all along, at the height of the Cold War; Monarch (11 episodes), a drama with Susan Sarandon centered on the ambitious family that built a country music empire; Panhandle (eight episodes), a dramedy where an agoraphobic and a policewoman come together to solve a mystery from the past; Three Pins (eight chapters), about an inspector who investigates murders in a seemingly idyllic town; and Without Skin (four chapters), a psychological thriller that explores the relationship between a grieving mother and the man that is in prison for the murder of her daughter.

They also introduced a reality show and a black comedy in development. The reality show is Tunnel of Love, where ten pairs of friends, split to live in two different houses connected by a tunnel, must arrange dates among the other contestants. While the black comedy, Anatomy (ten episodes) is a creation of Mark Alazraki, Valeria de León, German Maggiori, Néstor Hernández with Ana Bond and Moisés Chiver as executive producers. It’s set in Guadalajara in 1997, where two clueless medical students, Carmen and Alejandra, are recruited by the police to unmask a serial killer.
