Group Station Panelists

Bilingualism was one of the multiple ways mentioned by Valari Staab, president of NBCUniversal Owned Television Stations and Ozzie Martínez, senior VP News, Standards and Digital at Telemundo Station Group, in which both groups of channels complement each other.

In the conversation, chaired by Michael Malone, senior content producer, Broadcasting & Cable Staab mentioned that they are stronger together than separate with the help of Telemundo stations, there is an exhibition to a greater audience and where both are best is delivering breaking news and on the weather report.

Staab announced that in Boston they are inaugurating new, modern facilities that will accommodate four news teams for both channels (NBC and Telemundo). She added that three years ago they made a multi-million dollar investment in resources for weather reports, where they have six mobile units called storm rangers and some six or seven fixed radars. She says the NBC station in New York is always six minutes ahead of the National Weather Service.

Staab added that Telemundo is always ahead of NBC in terms of augmented reality for the weather report. She commented that the use of this resource offers more dynamic presentations.

She pointed out that the young audience of Telemundo stations is always more open to changes and innovations, whereas the NBC audience has remained apart from air TV.
