The 2013 Independent Show will discuss interesting topics such as OTT and programming costs

NCTC (The National Cable Television Cooperative) and ACA (The American Cable Association) will hold a new edition of The Independent Show, this time at the San Diego Hilton Bayfront from July 28th to July 31st.The show will have interesting panel discussions, including OTT video, cord-cutting, and a discussion on programming costs at the closing session.On Monday, July 29th, ACA staff and consultants will update attendees on the focus of their work this year, and touch upon many of the following topics important to smaller cable operators: retransmission consent, program access, a la carte, Aereo, bandwidth caps, net neutrality, the Connect America Fund, IP transition and more.Also on Monday, July 29th, will take place Roundtable Discussions, new this year. It´s an opportunity for members to sit down and discuss an issue, share opinions, strategies, tactics or just brainstorm specific subjects. Each discussion will be led by an expert on the subject matter to help facilitate the conversation. Do’s and don’ts of channel line ups will be hosted by Frank Hughes, NCTC; TV everywhere… what is it and where does it go from here? by Doug Hull, NCTC; Bandwidth reclamation by Bob Hunt, Broadband Buzz; and ACA – Copywright & broadband map by ACA.On Tuesday, July 30th, ACA President and CEO, Matt Polka, and other leading trade association and company representatives will discuss the changing climates in business, technology and government and how to ensure a bright future for independent cable and telecom companies.
