Juan Carlos Sosa, EVP of Venevision Studios

Juan Carlos Sosa, the new EVP of Venevision Studios, said that after Mexico and Brazil, the Cisneros facilities in Miami and Venezuela are the largest in the region and are being made available to the market. One of the mandates given by his boss of 33 years, Cisneros Media CEO Adriana Cisneros, was precisely to streamline, improve and refresh the productions of Venevisión.At age 42, Sosa belongs to a generation somewhere between those of Adriana and Gustavo Cisneros, a very convenient place to be in this management transition period for the group.Sosa’s efforts to refresh Venevisión include hiring creatives and building a department of ideation of multiformat, multilingual content, and opening a new production line: teleseries, with names associated with groundbreaking content such as Marlon Quintero (Los Caballeros Las Prefieren Brutas), Andrés López López, (El Cartel De Los Sapos), and Venezuelan filmmaker Abraham Pulido, who directs the first teleseries under the Sosa administration, Sangre En El Diván.With 20 years at the Cisneros organization, Sosa previously successfully managed one of the group’s telcos. But he is no stranger to the content factories; during two years he studied in detail the company’s production processes. Some of the strategies to make the business more profitable include renting out unused studios and boosting production.
