Latin America has proven to be a source of creativity and production, not just for the Viacom International Media Networks channels in the region, but also for its global signals.”One of the things we love the most about Latin America is its creativity. That is why we opened one of our creativity centers in Buenos Aires. From there, we produce content for Latin America, and as it turns out, it is also a source for our global channels,” told PRODU an enthusiastic Bob Bakish, president and CEO of Viacom International Media Networks.Bakish refers to Grachi, series originated in Latin America for Nickelodeon LatAm. Its Nickelodeon U.S. version, Every Witch Way, is now in its third season.Along with Pierluigi Gazzolo, president of Viacom International Media Networks for The Americas, Bakish said that there are plans to significantly boost the number of hours produced, both for the screen of the Nickelodeon Latin America and for worldwide use. He confirmed the production of a second season of Acapulco Shore. The company will also produce Catfish Colombia and another teen novela by the same writers and producers of Every Witch Way.“Latin America continues to be an important territory for us. In Colombia, Argentina, Brazil, Mexico, the pay-TV business continues to expand, and we estimate it could grow 9% this year. A couple of years ago the growth was 20%, but a 9% in this business still is a very healthy number,” added Bakish.
