The production company Zafiro Cinema, founded in 2018 by the Mexican producer Edher Campos and the Bolivian Gabriela Maire, became a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences in Hollywood on June 30. Additionally, together with Sony Pictures Classics, they will launch in autumn on US screens the film Te Llevo Conmigo, entirely spoken in Spanish with Mexican actors.

Te Llevo Conmigo (I Carry You With Me, 2020), a Mexico-US co-production, is a film that won in the last edition of the International Sundance Film Festival, the Innovador Next and Audience Next Awards.

It was directed by the US documentalist, and Academy-award nominee, Heidi Ewing, who based his script on the true story of two friends of his to make this film. It is his debut in the fiction genre.

Shot in Mexico City, Jilotepec, Zapotitlán, Puebla de Zaragoza and New York, Te Llevo Conmigo tells the intense romance between Iván (Armando Espitia) and Gerardo (Christian Vázquez), two Young men who, due to social pressure and homophobia face a series of complications that force Iván, a young aspiring chef, to leave his soulmate and travel to New York, where his life will never be the same.
