Finnegan: Inevitablemente, tu huella o tu sello in
As Mickey Finnegan grew up watching and studying the small screen, he observed a new generation of music videos enriched with entertainment and visual style. He now goes all-out to imbue his work with the same excitement that made him fall in love with the medium.What Finnegan likes best about being a director is being able to see the reaction people have to his work. “Since I was a kid, showing my favorite movies to my family and friends was the most fun, and in general, that continues to be what I like best” says the director about his never-forgotten childhood.When talking about his work, he says he delves into understanding his audience as thoroughly as possible, “in order to have them in mind when Im making something for them” Which may explain why he has fast become one of the most attention-getting directors in the industry.His colorful signature style has opened doors to directing such artists as Lil Jon, Soulja Boy, LMFAO, R. Kelly, Lloyd, Mario, New Boyz, Tyga and Hyper Crush.Out of so much musical experience, Mickey particularly recalls having the chance to work with Jamie Foxx on the Yes video of LMFAO: “We had a concept based on curling and we had a great time” he recalls.His videos have been shown on MTV, BET and FUSE. He made a hit right from the start, when with the first video he directed he won Jam of the Week, which continues to be one of the videos to be found on 106 and Parks Top 10, that include his No. 1-ranked video of Soulja Boys “Pretty Boy Swag”.Finnegan believes that after putting his name on a production, leaving his personal mark on it is an inevitable add-on. “Inevitably, your signature style will be stamped on your work, like it or not. When making a movie or video, youre constantly taking decisions, and those decisions are purely subjective” the director says.His favorite role model is Steven Spielberg. Okay, okay, he knows thats a cliche, but he respects the man for his long career and the impact he has had on movies, because “from the technical aspect and from a historical viewpoint, hes incredible”.Finnegan is a graduate of the University of Southern California with a major in Film and Television. He currently lives in Los Angeles, California, and is repped by La Banda Films for the Hispanic market in the United States. Also very important is that he is now working on his first feature film.Production company: La Banda Films, USAContact: {Emilia Arau;emilia@labandafilms.com}T +1-310-820-8780{Watch video;www.produ.tv/popup.html?noti=7925}
