Agustín Calderón: Uno como director debe tener sie

When it comes to the seventh art, every single director seeks to leave their mark in every film with their personal style. To Agustin Calderon from Whiskey Films, this process is achieved with a genuine character, plus the development of a successful career. It is a long road made of talent and effort. In this occasion, the Mexican director shares his life story with PRODU.Calderón was born in Mexico City in 1964 and since he was a kid he got into the world of movies working at almost every career ladder successfully. Simply put, he started serving coffee. His efforts and tenacity opened him doors to better and better positions, and along with responsibility, came the need and the want to learn more and more.A fan of Stanley Kubrick, Billy Wilder, Akira Kurosawa, Federico Fellini, and Martin Scorsese, after several years working in the field, he decides to take on direction and photography at the Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica de la Ciudad de México, from where he graduated with a Suma Cum Laude degree in 1999 with his short film Inaudito. Regarding his own techniques, Calderon explains their origin as a mixture of elements. “Every artist has their own cultural background, and only when you are true to yourself you can connect with others… I cannot say that my inspiration comes from this or that film director; that would be an understatement… it comes from many places”.His great care and detail at any staging is admired and respected by all those who know him. He has directed hundreds of commercials a number of short films and documentaries, achieving several national and international awards for his work, including several music videos for famous artists like Sin Bandera, Alejandro Fernández, among others. Since 1995, he has worked as a photography director and since 2009 as a director for Whiskey Films, specializing in food (tabletop), high speed photography and special effects, and he highlights authenticity as one of the greatest things he has learned during his career. “As a director, you always need to have your feet on the ground and tell correctly what is indispensable from what is not. What I can tell you is that I take on every project giving the best of me: I want it to be visually interesting, believable, with a structure and good pace, as I seek a fruitful, seamless work relationship with my collaborators” adds the director.Production company:Whiskey Films, EE UUContact: {Jean Sharony;jean@whiskeyfilms.com}T +1-305-924-5010{Watch video;http://www.produ.com/publicidad/videos/index.html?Noti=8828}
