Univision Communications expands its Distribution Sales and Marketing team based in NY

Rob Thun has been named EVP of Business Operations

Univision Communications Inc. announced the expansion of its Distribution Sales and Marketing team based in New York.In order to continue to position the company as a game-changing media powerhouse with a forward-looking distribution strategy, the company announced four executive appointments: Rob Thun has been named EVP of Business Operations; Renee Plato will serve as SVP of Digital Distribution; Sarah Madigan, has been elevated to SVP of Business Affairs; and Carlos Alimurung will assume responsibilities as VP of Digital Distribution. Thun and Plato will be based in New York and report to Tonia O’Connor, president of Distribution Sales and Marketing. Also based in New York, Madigan will report to Thun and Alimurung will report to Plato. Univision’s Distribution Sales and Marketing team, under O’Connor’s leadership, is responsible for the distribution of all the Company’s digital services including its UVideos Digital Network, announced at Univision’s upfront presentation last month, genre-specific broadband channels, and the expansion of the company’s content portfolio across all platforms in partnerships with its existing and new distributors. These include recent deals with Hulu, DISH Network, AT&T and Verizon, as well as becoming the first Hispanic media company to bring video content to Xbox LIVE. This multi-year, multi-platform agreements reflect Univision’s evolving distribution philosophy to meet the needs of a Hispanic audience that loves television and over-indexes on digital platforms as compared to the average American. “Our mission is to be everywhere our audience is – from the big screen TV to the mobile phone, and anywhere in between – in order to satisfy our audience, who can’t get enough of our content. In order to accomplish this goal, while continuing to build on and renew our longstanding relationships with our distribution partners, we are expanding our already strong team with additional media industry experts,” said O’Connor.
