Alterna’TV and TRACE signed an agreement concerning the distribution of TRACE Sports Stars, the first global entertainment channel dedicated to sports celebrities already broadcast by major Latin American operators since 2012, which appoints Alterna’TV as the channel representative in the U.S. and Latin America. First launched worldwide in October 2011, TRACE Sport Stars is today available to 30 million homes in 105 countries. Available in English with Spanish and Portuguese subtitles, TRACE Sport Stars is currently available in the pay-TV offers of major operators such as SKY Mexico, Megacable, Cablecom (Mexico), UNE-EPM (Colombia) and Inter (Venezuela). TRACE Sport Stars follows athletes off the field to explore their lives and lifestyle. Whether it’s athletic champions dating rock stars, fitness gurus training movie stars for their next role or today’s hottest fashion designers dressing sports celebrities for the latest red carpet event, TRACE Sport Stars delivers behind-the-scenes access to today’s headline making sports talent and their entourages. This agreement also sees the TRACE Sport Stars channel having been made available in HD on the Satmex 8 satellite, as of 11 November, for reception by the operators of the region.“Sports celebrities have been looked upon as role models for decades, with young viewers around the world emulating the look, clothes and perceived lifestyle of the champions they most admire. TRACE Sport Stars has tapped into that fascination by producing exclusive content and providing round the clock access to today’s hottest sports celebs. We are convinced this channel will further generate strong interest from pay-TV operators throughout the U.S. and Latin America,” said Clemente Cabello, executive director of Alterna’TV.“Alterna’TV knows what it takes to secure carriage in the U.S., having developed close relationships with Latin American operators and having successfully launched a broad range of channels into this highly competitive marketplace. Both will allow the extension of TRACE Sport Stars distribution in this part of the world,” added Laurent Dumeau, CEO of TRACE Sport Stars and SVP, Global Distribution for TRACE TV.
