Biopics, Una Vida en Capítulos, conference in the context of Ventana Sur´s Fiction Factory, embarked on the production of bioseries with the producers of Monzón (Pampa Films and Turner) and Apache (Torneos).
The lecturers —Mariano César, Content VP at Turner LatAm; Agustín Bossi, executive producer at Pampa Films; and Leonardo De Pinto, Torneos Content Director — agree that the life of a well-known character is a good starting point to tell a story, and, that it also reconnects the audience with its own story (what the viewer was doing on certain historical moments that fiction recreates).
Bossi stressed the importance of asking what concept the character in the story conveys. “What is important is to make fiction, grasp the character´s energy and make a powerful story,” he specified.
De Pinto, for his part, maintained that a biopic must tell what cannot be Googled, unknown aspects of the life of the character.
Apache, that tells the life of the soccer player Carlos Tevez, was a bet of Torneos that started being produced without a buyer. Monzón from Pampa Films, instead, had Disney´s support in distribution, that was who added Turner and its screens, and then Netflix. “The partnership with other screens sacrifices exclusiveness, but wins in promotion and dissemination of content,” said César.
Currently, Turner and Polka are working on the García Belsunce case (a homicide that occurred in 2002 in Buenos Aires) and Pampa Films in the life of Gordo Valor (bank and armored vehicle robber).
