Carlos Nido, president, and CEO of the production company Piñolywood Studios, maker of Súbete a Mi Moto together with SOMOS and Endemol Shine Boomdog, said it was a challenge to maintain the continuity of the series, which they managed with excellent results: there is no way for viewers to notice the difference between what was shot in Mexico and what was shot in Puerto Rico.
“In Puerto Rico exteriors of the tours that the group made in Venezuela, Brazil, and Chile were recreated. Most of the concerts were shot in Mexico because there it was easier to find the locations. But the entrance to those concerts was shot in Puerto Rico. We also did a good combination of historical and current footing and part of what we shot was done in Betacam, so it would seem historical footing. It is with the current actors but seems as if it had been shot in the 80s. We are very satisfied with the final product. Many of the concerts have a Visual Effects component, with the aim to replicate the audience. To achieve this result, we had effective production as well as continuity planning” he said.
Nido detailed that, along with doing the production and post-production supervision in Puerto Rico, he contributed the rights he had signed with Edgardo Díaz four years ago.
He commented that it seemed a story worth telling: how Edgardo Diaz saw the opportunity to form a youth band of boys, the drive he had to turn it into an international band, the rapid rise to become trendsetters, and the ultimate decline.
