ViendoMovies includes now closed caption in English, an option that seeks to better serve the bilingual audience as well as multi-generational Latino households in the United States and Puerto Rico.

ViendoMovies, owned by Somos TV, is characterized by including options and contents that facilitate the enjoyment and promotion of Spanish language cinema and is available on different pay TV distribution services (cable, satellite and telcos).

“The Latin American market is made up of an audience from different nationalities, dissimilar levels of acculturation and Spanish language variations. The viewers can be people that range from totally dependent on the Spanish language to those with different degrees of bilingualism or those who speak English mostly. The availability of closed caption in both languages (English and Spanish) now in ViendoMovies, seeks to optimize the experience of enjoying the channel’s films on each of these different segments of the audience,” commented José Antonio Espinal, VP and COO, Somos TV.

Espinal expressed that – apart from the factor of bilingualism – the Spanish language has localisms which sometimes makes it difficult to understand some phrases. ViendoMovies (which programs films of different nationalities) incorporates this additional service to allow the audience to enjoy the best films of Spanish cinema in its entirety, taking into account these factors. In addition, the executive stressed – this effort enhances the channel’s differentiation.

“Closed caption in English will facilitate the enjoyment of an entertainment form that is so popular and is part of our efforts to have a better film channel every day. Each person will be able to select closed caption in the language of their choice,” Espinal added.
