Fernando Rasé: After writing for the first season of Vgly, I realized that the audience is hungry for stories of brown superheroes on screen

The writer of the original series Vgly, a production by Exile Content Studio for HBO, Fernando Rasé, is presenting a new video, La Cumbia de Braunvil, to fill a void in the representation of people with brown skin in modern music and TV series.

This video serves as a teaser to preview what will be the TV series, Ñeros Bien, created by Rasé, which is currently in development with the production company Campanario Entertainment in Los Angeles. The video was directed by Roberto Vera, Rasé, and Tony “Baby Creysi” García, a member of ASCO Media, and the executive producer of the series Vgly.

“After writing for the first season of Vgly, I realized that the audience is hungry for stories of brown superheroes on screen. There is 80% of the population that sees themselves represented there. The idea is to create more brown art, bring it to TV, music, and cinema, and do it big. Diversity should not only be on the screen. We need to generate opportunities within the community so that more writers and creatives can tell their own stories. But not only writers and creatives, but also successful brown rappers, poets, entrepreneurs, architects, film directors, producers, brown leaders, but I would also even say brown superheroes!” expressed Rasé.

Rasé believes that there are no limits to dreaming: “We can have cameras, edit, and create content with a phone. We are children of the internet. That’s why I want to aim further and test the limits of my creativity. In that sense, I identify with Donald Glover (Childish Gambino) and Tyler, The Creator, a reference for my entire generation. They have taken their creativity to unexpected places and have even created businesses with tools that are within our reach.”
