Effie Awards Mexico has returned to its big get-togethers now that the Covid pandemic is no longer the threat  it was. The competition that honors creative ideas and strategies that effectively contribute to the success of brands, celebrated its 23rd edition in an event that bought together more than 600 leaders of the marketing, advertising and communications industries. Altogether some 47 prizes were awarded – of which nine were gold Effies, 15 silver and 22 bronze – in a historic participation of more than 360 campaigns entered among the 48 categories of television commercials and social media.“This year is significant for the Effies, because the health crisis significantly marked a distance separating all sectors and personnel from one another. So that this return to so many people getting together has created an ideal moment for strengthening ties and motivating talents among those who have so greatly influenced the industry in our country,” said Sergio Lopez, executive president of the Alliance for the Strategic Value of Brands (AVE), a firm managed by the Effie Awards in Mexico. The awardsIn this edition of Advertiser of the Year, the winner was PepsiCo Foods Mexico, while Ogilvy & Mather Mexico was crowned Agency of the Year. The awards were determined based on the score obtained by adding all the points won respectively by each agency’s campaign that either won a metal or was a finalist. At the same time the Grand Effie, the top prize of the contest, went to the Bimbo Group for its campaign Changarros for WhatsApp: How to quadruplicate your sales, to which the agencies Findasense Mexico, Capgemini Mexico and the CI Mexico Group all contributed. The winner of this prize was determined by the Grand Jury presided over by Francois Bouyra, general director of Alpura, and was made up of representatives of brands, ad agencies, the media and communications industries, plus research specialists and academic institutions that judged the nine gold Effie winners in order to pick the winner of the most important of the Effie Awards Mexico 2022.
