YouTube launches ads with a click-to-buy in their videos

YouTube lanza anuncios comerciales con click de compra dentro de sus videos

YouTube has launched commercial ads similar to the ones available in Google and extends these to mobile applications. The ads allow advertisers to display a click-to-buy in their partner videos on YouTube. Users will see an “i” in the upper right section of a video to see the shopping ads. The format will be the same as the YouTube TrueView screen, according to an announcement made on Tuesday. TrueView has been operating for five years. A feature that this new format includes is that it charges advertisers per ad only when a user decides to watch it more than 30 seconds, although they may opt to omit the ad. For Diya Jolly, Director of Video Ads Product Management at YouTube, it is a new source of income for creators, and provides another way to monetize product videos. “They also provide a more interactive experience for viewers, letting them shop directly from videos”. YouTube is also helping advertisers promote their mobile apps through their videos. The company points out that now that they are included in Google´s Brand Lift, a feature that allows brands to measure interest by monitoring lift in organic keyword searches related to the company name on Google. “With this update, you’ll be able to see if your ad is driving searches for organic video content related to your brand on YouTube. Measuring interest is an important part of determining impact, and is a unique benefit of advertising on Google and YouTube” explains Jolly.
