The story of the musical group Menudo, to begin shooting this summer in Mexico and Puerto Rico, will be distributed next year on Amazon Prime Video, reported EFE.

Carlos Nido, president of the production company Piñolywood Studios, told EFE that they have already completed 15 scripts and are going to recreate the story of Menudo since it began in Puerto Rico until it became famous and reached stardom. Piñolywood Studios, Somos Productions, and Endemol Shine Boomdog produced the series.

Súbete a Mi Moto: La Historia de Menudo Contada Según Su Creador will have 15 one-hour episodes, and includes the creator of the group, Edgardo Díaz, the band´s choreographer, Joselo Vega, a former member of the group and the journalist Myraida Chávez, who conducted a series of interviews as resources to make scripts.

Additionally, Nido stated that in the market of television films and series for companies like Netflix and Amazon, among others, the series about musical groups have become very popular and he gave the example of the series of the Puerto Rican reggaeton musician Nicky Jam, launched on Netflix last year: “I was number one in most of the markets in Latin America and in many European ones. The same thing is going to happen with Menudo. Menudo´s number one market was Mexico and number two, Brazil”.

He also mentioned that this year they will begin the auditions for the series in Puerto Rico. The actors must know how to sing and dance because there are plans to form a band, in which the finalists will have a television program to choose the members of the group.

Amazon has not officially confirmed the information yet.
