Big Media: We seek to organically incorporate part of the Latin American content into productions in development

Juan Fernández, Head for Latin America and the US at Big Media, commented that they are interested in incorporating Latin American content and content in Spanish in the productions they are developing on their Pipeline. Big Media specializes in unscripted original productions, in the genres of true crime, military and intelligence, history, science and wildlife.

“We are talking with great producers and great players. The catalog is very broad, with many projects in development and there is a lot to do” he explained, after commenting that they are trying to develop alliances that allow organically integrating part of the content for it to cover situations or stories from Latin America.

“Traditionally, when these contents reach the market, they do it in English and are localized, dubbed or subtitled, or there can be voiceover. In addition to this, we are looking for a way to offer custom-made productions for our clients, with the elements that are relevant for the region” he commented.

Fernández has been in charge since March this year, and is responsible for managing the sales and distribution strategy in the entire Latin American region and the US Hispanic market. Big Media has made unscripted originals for large entertainment platforms such as Curiosity, Discovery+, Pluto TV, Hulu, A+E Networks, and Roku, among others. They have six global offices and some 247 broadcast clients.

“I have distributed content in Latin America for 20 years and had never worked with a product of the quality Big Media’s has. There is a great offer for open television and platforms. The company is very skillful in structuring collaborations and coproductions, it is very dynamic”, he furthered, after explaining that they also work on developing projects that are relevant for Latin America and on producing them in Spanish for the region. “Big Media has all the credentials, because they have been doing this for many years” he assured.
