For Juan Muñoz, digital and social media director of CNN en Español, the channel is increasingly becoming digital, will be more focused on the daily needs of the audience, and will be “an essential piece in the day-to-day lives of millions of people.”

Muñoz, who is responsible for the editorial content of CNNEspanol.com, CNN en Español Radio, and the channel’s presence on social networks, considers that the biggest challenge facing news teams this year is to keep up the interest of audiences in long-winded stories and coverage that have been on top of the agenda for weeks or months, even years, as is the case with the pandemic, as well as now the War in Ukraine.

Among the projects that will be undertaken this year – in addition to CNN+, which has just announced ceasing operations – stands out the transition to a new CMS (Content Management System) at CNN, “which will allow us to access all the network’s sites in a same technological stack and thus generate synergies of both content and products,” he said.

The most important events on the channel’s agenda for 2022 range from several ballots that will take place in the region, such in Colombia, Brazil, and the US, to the Summit of the Americas in June, including the Qatar World Cup.
