Luis Manzo Director

The Venezuelan director based in Miami, Luis Manzo, from the winning team of Como Tú No Hay 2 and with a career path of over 30 years across the entire region, talked about his experiences as a survivor of coronavirus and his reflections on this experience in an exclusive interview on #PRODUprimetime. Along with him, his wife and daughter also overcame it; but his mother in law, the journalist Mariahé Pabón (90 years old), was unable to recover.

“Death is always near you. What affected me the most was the isolation. This produces anxiety and unease. It was a moment of huge doubts, mainly regarding the future of my family,” he said, and added how hard it was to lose a close beloved one, “our mother”. Although he rules out the possibility of a new infected member, they maintain the precautions and make a call: “We respect the virus, we know the enemy because of its foul breath, we know he is there. But we must not let the virus dominate us, we must respond to the virus with vitality and an eagerness to live, starting with our nutrition”.

Manzo assured that he is prepared for “whatever is coming” and from his company Buena Letra, together with Mariela Romero, writer, and Carlos Lamus, showrunner and producer, is devoted to generating stories thought to be made with minimum teams, but “with important dramaturgical support where the weight is on human relations. I think budgets will be reduced, but more will be invested in books, characters, and structure”.
