During the upfront of the Olympusat Free TV platform, held in Mexico City, Fernando Vargas, President; Jesús Piñango, Senior Director of News and Public Relations; and Verónica Sánchez, Director of Advertising Sales, reported that after recently adding two series from the BBC in London, their content offer comprises 6,000 hours, while their application reached 4.6 million downloads. They also announced plans to open a production house in this country to develop local projects, which will be part of the dubbing company that is now also betting on English.

“Free TV is available throughout the region and since August 2022 it can be tuned on 8.2 of open TV in Mexico, we have more than 6,000 hours of programming and content is added weekly to provide entertainment and for people to find well-known titles; we have Asian, European and American series. The idea is to have original content and to create new products here in Mexico with local talent, and combine it with those acquired through our more than 50 international suppliers,” commented Piñango.

It is thanks to this rapid growth that the next step for the company in Mexico is to open recording studios, to work on “our content exclusively produced by us”. This project will be in place in 2023, and the pre-production stage will begin in December of this year. “We already have the facilities and the equipment, in order to launch ten contents a month, starting with two and gradually increasing the number between short series and movies,” the President of Olympusat Mexico said.

The recording studios will become part of the dubbing division that they have had since 1998, which recently included English apart to its offer in Spanish. “We are dedicated to film restoration and dubbing of all our content. We dub between 350 and 400 hours a month exclusively for us, but we are open to work with any company interested. We have done some work for the US and France, and we just begun with English with Mexican and American talent. We have created portable booths to be able to record anywhere in the world,” added Vargas.

Sánchez highlighted the opportunities for advertisers, assuring that Free TV is revolutionizing what the company has been doing and opening up new possibilities for strategic partners through the different branches: “In Mexico we have 4.6 million downloads, 1.8 million only in 2022. In number of hours, the consumption ranges between 95 and 110 minutes per day, the equivalent of two episodes of a series or a complete movie.”

To conclude they announced the recent agreement with the BBC in London for the acquisition of two recently filmed series that will be announced soon.
