(Nubia Gamboa). As in previous years, when RTI was a programmer of Colombian TV, in 2011 this production company will go back to combining the small screen with literary works. This was the announcement made by Patricio Wills, President of Telemundo Studios. At the trade event Rueda de negocios Visual 2010 in Bogotá, Wills reminisced how RTI is closely tied to the history of Colombian television: it began as a small production and distribution house, to then become a supplier to large television networks, and now with the current strategic alliance with Telemundo, he said they will have great products for next year. Wills announced they will launch three mega-projects based on literary works. The first one is Ojo por ojo, starring Miguel Varoni and Gaby Espino. It is being shot between Bogotá, La Guajira and Girardot, and is based on the novel Leopardo al sol by Laura Restrepo. The second production La reina del sur, is based on the book by the same title written by Arturo Pérez Reverte. It is being shot between Colombia, Mexico, and Spain, and constitutes the most ambitious project RTI has taken on. “It is shot 100% on location for the primetime of Mexico, the U.S., and Spain. It will be 60 one-hour episodes that will feel like 60 one-hour films,” said Wills referring to the quality and intensity of the story which stars Kate del Castillo. Finally, Wills announced the production of Herederos del monte, “a Colombian western that will be shot between the countryside of Bogotá and Villa de Leyva,” added Wills.
