Televisa and Editorial Planeta Mexicana reached an agreement in which the Mexican network acquired the rights to the book El Último Rey written by journalist Olga Wornat that will be used to create a bioseries about Vicente Fernández Gómez, El Charro de Huentitán, an icon of the Mexican music, as well as a successful composer, businessman, record producer, and actor.

Televisa and Univision will be responsible for the series, and soon the producer and cast of the project will be announced.

Televisa highlighted in a press release that the making of this bioseries about Vicente Fernández is a privilege and, at the same time, an enormous challenge because he was one of the most emblematic performers and idols of Mexican vernacular music, whose talent gained him worldwide recognition. “We are sure that the realization of this project will be of great interest to millions of people throughout America, admirers of the great musical legacy left by Don Vicente Fernández.”

At the end of 2021, Caracol announced a series about the life of Vicente Fernández for Netflix, whose rights were agreed with Fernández himself before his death.
