The team of designers of the characters of the fourth season of the reality show ¿Quién es la Máscara?, Aurora Ares, Jorge Delfín, Roberto Chávez, Almudena Nava, talked about the process of their development, which took about ten months from conception until seeing them in the first broadcast of this production by Miguel Ángel Fox, who was a key player in the choice of each one.

“It is a very long process that takes us several months and once finished, we start with the development of the characters for the next season. We begin with the proposal of the characters, then we do the sketching, and then fall in the hands of the producers, who recommend or request special characters and we shape them. We are a team of more than 50 people behind this, including suppliers, designers, seamstresses, and more,” they explained.

According to the team, each of the characters is based on ideas that come to them as creators and to the producer, who contributed with ideas for creating some such as Huacal. “It has a lot to do with our state of mind, our cultural background, or influences of movies we’ve watched or music we listen to. Meanwhile, Fox also came up with ideas and big challenges, such as including a character with fruits, which in the end became Huacal.”

The process of elaboration of each character begins with a hand-molded artistic clay sculpture, which is then emptied into fiberglass, and subsequently, the costumes and characteristics that make it more expressive are designed. “We develop this process at the same time for the 18 characters, which goes through many filters, starting with the producer who is very meticulous and ending with the acceptance of the celebrity who will wear it.”

They mentioned that one of the producer’s requests was to make each character funnier, given that this fourth season seeks to combine comedy with music: “We tried to make characters that clicked with the public, that had a strong identity. Compared to other years, this year they are more fun, with more childlike traits to become familiar characters, more colorful and funny.”

In this edition of ¿Quién es la Máscara?, the celebrities who accepted to be part of this fun musical adventure will be hidden behind the characters of Alebrije, Alfiletero, Bot, Bunch, Cactus, Cornelio, Dálmata, Elvestruz, Escoba, Geisha, Graffiti, Huacal, Jinete, Kit Bengala, Koaláctico, Pulpo, Rey Egipcio, and Triki.

It is a format produced by TelevisaUnivision and Endemol Shine Boomdog, based on the original format of Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation (MBC), The King of Mask Singer. Miguel Ángel Fox is responsible for the production.
