TelevisaUnivision: Vecinos is an emblematic comedy turning 18 and with 272 episodes on the air

The 14th season of the series Vecinos, one of the star comedy products of TelevisaUnivision, premieres this Sunday 19 at 7:40pm on Las Estrellas. Produced by Elías Solorio, it already has reached 272 episodes on the air, featuring stories based on true events and aiming to unify the family are the main distinctive attributes to compete with products on other platforms.

In addition to becoming a tribute to the recently deceased actor Ignacio López Tarso – it was the last television content in which he performed -, Vecinos aims to showcase the reality of Mexican society, above all, stories within a neighborhood: “With the seasons 14 and 15, each with 14 episodes, we reached 272 episodes. What we’ve been doing is using the stories that people tell us and capturing them on TV, and that’s part of the success of the show. In this season we are going to solve issues from the previous installment and it will feature many neighborhood conflicts, which are not pretentious, but very referential to what we live day by day,” said the producer, who announced that they will have special guests including the sportcastersToño de Valdés, Enrique Burak, Pepe Segarra.

For Solorio, Vecinos‘s main objective is to amuse the audience at a time “when external situations lead us to an emotional whirlwind.” “It arrives when it is increasingly difficult to compete with platforms, which have greater freedom in terms of content, unlike open TV, which has limitations (beyond the censorship), but out of respect for the public, where we want people of all ages to see us.”

He said that, in order to sit the family together around the TV, this season 14 introduces the one-year-old son of two of the characters, in addition to the participation of the 98-year-old leading actor Ignacio López Tarso: “This defines the audience we want, with the goal of always reaching everyone in a respectful manner.”

He explained that Vecinos is an emblematic Sunday show, which in its season premieres has reached an audience of more than 4 million. “A historic rating record in terms of comedy, which is a challenge because it means finding many different stories to tell, keeping the right quality and without the time and budgets that the big streaming platforms’ series have. That also gives us the freedom to modify things as the world changes and stay updated”.

The new season of Vecinos, maintains its base cast, made up of Mayrín Villanueva, Lalo España, César Bono, Ana Bertha Espín, Macaria, Manuel “Flaco” Ibáñez, Edgar Vivar, Pablo Valentín, Darío Ripoll, Moisés Suárez, Danny Perea, Markín López, Said Casab, Roxanna Castellanos, Gina Holguín, Talitha Becker, Alejandro de Marino, Verania Luken, and Paola Ferrer. It will also have special participations: Ignacio López Tarso, Toño de Valdés, Enrique Burak, Pepe Segarra, Natalia Madera, Pedro Romo, Lupita Sandoval, and Ander Saúl Mercado (Luisito jr.).
