The low cost of the product, the apps ecosystem, abundance in expertise, and the features of the applications, are some of the benefits that, according to Nick Wilson, head of Customer Satisfaction of TiVo, made Android TV a popular platform among the operators of pay-TV.
Wilson participated in the panel "Best strategies for TV operators on Android TV", during the first day of Dataxis' NEXTV Central America, along with Daniel Vieco Landucci, Regional Programming Manager for Latin America at Red Bull Media House LatAm, and Dhaval Naker, Executive Director of Residential Fixed Services and Mobile Postpaid for Cable & Wireless Panama.
Naker said that their Android TV product was launched in 2020 in the midst of the pandemic. “The consumer has access to more than 5,000 applications from their set-top box, it has cloud recording, catch up TV and it is wireless. Every month we keep updating each of our clients.”
For Naker, the role of the cable operator has changed, “it can no longer be a simple content aggregator, but rather offer more value. In this context, Android TV has many advantages, it is a one-stop store, it meets the needs of the consumer at a very reasonable price.”
