Univision tlnovelas begins transmissions through DishLATINO in the US

Univision’s new network, Univision tlnovelas, launched in the US on Wednesday Feb. 29 through the DishLATINO for its initial chapter, though negotiations about distribution with other paid TV operators have not ceased.”We’re emphasizing the Televisa’s novelas from the 80s and 90s, which haven’t been seen in 20 to 25 years. This is the line that we’re focusing on with this channel. When I talk about the classic novelas, I always refer to Los Ricos También Lloran, Rosa Salvaje, Cuna de Lobos y otras” commented to PRODU Jessica Rodríguez, senior VP of Univision’s Cable Channels. Univision tlnovelas will have commercial breaks. “We know that the genre of the novela us popular among advertisers. They want to participate in a way that’s different, how it’s done on Univision, which involves more branded entertainment” Rodríguez added. She also mentioned that they’re working to have Univision tlnovelas become a fully rated channel with Nielsen. The executive also emphasized that the network would still be giving prominence to the Univision logo and brand. “All the novelas will have a one-minute intro with our host Giselle Blondet who will summarize the program. The commercials will have short clips where we go behind the scenes one day at a telenovela and talk to the artists” she said. The initial scheduling will contain six daily novelas and repetitions during the weekends. “In the long run, we’ll continue expanding the offer and genres to include one-hour specials”.
