ROSCA + NAH!: El mercado hispano siempre está entr
ROSCA + NAH, a team currently working for Milagros Films, are well known for juggling humor and artistic sensibility to take script ideas and storyboards to their fullest potential, as their ideas trigger at a suitable pace and materialize within the allocated time frame. This duo conveys the common vision of two directors: Alejo Rosemberg and Julián Castro. They claim, implicitly, the idea to get another kick at the can to every project on filming. ROSCA is a name which defines the style in which a cinematic vision, narrative and the mixture of humor are the keys to describe the great aesthetics of this association. This directing duo has been awarded national and international awards (Cannes, D & AD, Promax) through image campaigns for MTV, VH1, FOX, and Cartoon Network, as well as memorable commercials for Argentinas most outstanding advertising agencies with clients like Unilever, HSBC, and Coca Cola. They also have shot spots for USA clients like American Airlines, McDonald’s, and YMCA.To both directors, whats most interesting about this job is to create something from a script. “Its all about being open to new styles, proposals and ideas coming in. Its fun to work out the creativity muscle, which is endless, explains Alejo Rosemberg. The director adds that every time a project is carried out, he thinks as a viewer with nothing to do with the world of advertising. Both directors have worked for the Latino market. “I particularly like the interest in attracting new talent and new views. Its a market which is always between keeping up the status quo and at the same time needing to break the rules and being more innovative. Thats the kind of friction were interested in and we want to invest our talent in as well”, commented Rosemberg.Likewise, NAH! Contenidos is a company focusing on the production of TV commercials, advertising, and new format development for TV and web projects. This production company is not only a creative workshop that develops its own ideas and concepts, but it also has the capability to create ideas according to requests from clients and advertising agencies looking to create a different TV ad or an audiovisual project with a different vision and a unique sense of humor.NAH! Contenidos has already accomplished a lot by now, as it has produced several works such as Monstruo and Teleserie, a Movie City campaign; Informative Flash (50 3-minute pods for Sony), Carilost, a TV series filled with absurd humor created for Camel; Ana, the very first Argentinean web series created in 3D, from MasterCard/McCann, and the web series The Show of Ramiro Agujis, created for Movistar.Every completed project boasts a style defined by the directors. Rosemberg revealed that whenever he undertakes a new project, he strips off everything and seeks for “something special that only may come from what we feel. A moment, an image, a rhythm, an everyday life scene, a gag or a take I see when I close my eyes and then I shoot it”. Castro added that this all shows when there is real enthusiasm and desire to complete the project. Though they did not talked about their future projects in the audiovisual field, the directors of ROSCA did state they want to make a film and shoot really innovative advertising projects. They wrapped up the interview commenting on their film preferences. Rosemberg confessed he has several favorite directors: Let’s just mention two as examples: Scorsese and the Coen brothers. The latter for his admirable career and his film world which is a mixture of Latino (for Italy) and American. He’s all about that blood mixture with the American system, that clash. And the Coen brothers for their stories always carry humor, a portion of unreality and everything crafted within lofty aesthetics. In both cases you may use their last names as adjectives”. Castro, in turn, only said one name: John Cassavetes.
