Arturo Yépez, CEO of 2bLatam
A few months after announcing the strategic expansion of the alliance between 2bLatam and Elefantec following the launch of enchufe.tv, Arturo Yépez, CEO of the company behind this YouTube channel, reaffirmed its commitment to expanding its reach in the digital ecosystem and exploring new opportunities in the entertainment industry. He also revealed they are working on a couple of projects with another partner, 3Pas Studios, which they hope to launch in 2025.
“Since we acquired enchufe.tv in 2019, 2024 became the best year where we began reaping the rewards of our efforts. We have co-productions and multiple brands both in Ecuador and Mexico, along with an evident vision for medium- and long-term growth,” he commented. He added that the strategic alliance with Elefantec, led by Pepe Bastón, is a key step in this process.
He explained that they’ve explored ways to collaborate and leverage each other’s expertise for several years. This agreement, formalized in January 2024, has allowed both companies to develop new properties based on the success of enchufe.tv, a platform that has connected with over 60 million followers across the region.
The partnership focuses on expanding enchufe.tv’s presence not only in the digital space but also on streaming platforms, original series, and film projects. “Our vision is to bring more stories that highlight Mexican and Latin American culture, using comedy as a bridge to connect with audiences,” Yépez explained. Additionally, this collaboration aims to integrate branded content, a strategy proven effective with digitally native audiences.
Yépez emphasized the importance of real-time data in guiding content creation: “The advantage of coming from the digital world is having direct access to data that helps us understand how and with which audience our content works best.” This has enabled 2bLatam to identify an audience aged 13 to 24 who consume long-form content on platforms like YouTube and smart devices. “There’s a significant amount of smart TV consumption. The data generated on social media helps us adjust budgets, allowing us to decide whether a project will scale or not,” he said.
Regarding future projects, Yépez announced a new season of enchufe.tv featuring Mexican actors will begin production in the first quarter of 2024 and premiere in April. They are also working on a film and expanding into the U.S. market: “Elefantec will provide the extra step needed to position this property and explore new opportunities,” he added.
At the same time, 2bLatam is progressing with other strategic partners, such as 3Pas Studios, with which they are developing two projects at different stages. One is a series that, while progressing slowly, has great potential, and the other is a project set for 2025. “Partnerships only add value; they allow us to grow and trust in the impact of our productions,” Yépez emphasized.
Finally, Yépez highlighted the importance of integrating entertainment content with social impact initiatives. In collaboration with content creators, 2bLatam is working on projects focused on social responsibility and environmental issues, including a five-year campaign to reduce ocean plastic. “We want to combine entertainment, humor, and environmental themes to connect with new generations,” he concluded.
