CNN announced that it will be launching its CNN+ streaming platform near the closing date of the merger between WarnerMedia and Discovery, that is, in the middle of the second quarter of 2022, with an initial monthly price of US$2.99.
The US$2.99 price will be for life for those who take advantage of that launch promotion, as long as they continue to use the service. It was reported that from the second month of launch, the monthly payment will be US$5.99 or US$59.99 per year.
According to the LA Times, later the platform will also offer a cheaper advertising-supported option of CNN+, and also the service could be available in a sort of combo with HBO Max, or otherwise, with the merger between HBO Max and Discovery+. It has not yet been revealed when these different offers will be available to the public.
Chris Licht, who will replace Jeff Zucker once the companies merge, will be leading CNN and its operations.
