FOX Deportes will air the Super Bowl for the second time in Spanish next Sunday February 5 at 8pm and, for the first time, the NFL Honors ceremony on Saturday February 4.

FOX Deportes still holds the record for broadcast of the Super Bowl XLVIII in Spanish with 561,000 people three years ago. Carlos Sánchez, general manager and EVP, FOX Deportes, hopes this year they will exceed this figure.

“Since FOX Deportes started with NFL in 2013, they have reached between 1 million and 2.1 million TV viewers per year. This NFL season has reached 1.5 million people, which represents a 48% versus 2016. This year, the playoffs had the biggest audience in the history of pay Hispanic TV,” he mentioned.

For this occasion FOX Deportes has devoted more resources and has more hours of local production related with the Super Bowl.

They have NFLeros, hosted by Pablo Alsina, Jessi Losada, John Laguna and Brady Poppinga, which is made weekly in Los Angeles, and in the wake of the event, is aired daily since last Sunday until February 5 from Houston. Additionally, they will be supported by Valeria Marín from Mexico on social networks and by Hiram Marín on the webpage.

FOX Deportes En Vivo from Houston will complement the coverage. They will also present the segment Fútbol En Football, with Mariano Trujillo, former soccer player, explaining American football from his perspective.

“This year we are making a bigger effort in digital. We have a digital team in Houston. Our social networks have 14 million followers,” he said.

“Another novelty is that for the first time, NFL provided tickets to take a family to see the Super Bowl, through an Instagram contest,” he added. He highlighted that, the NFL programs have the SAP option, and that the anchors of the broadcast in English are going to tell the audience, on air, that if they wish to see the game in Spanish, they can tune into FOX Deportes.
