Lifetime together with VIP 2000 TV, Casablanca Brazil, and Yahayra Films have recorded three episodes out of the total ten of the series Amores Que Engañan, the channel’s first original series in the region set to premiere in May. They are also already thinking about a second season.

Arlette Siaretta, Casablanca, is the executive producer together with Roxana Rotundo, VIP 2000 TV, a company that will also be responsible for the series marketing; while Sofía Garrido (Yahayra Films) is the general producer in Guadalajara, a Mexican city where most of the episodes are being recorded. Nicolás Di Blasi, with the collaboration of Lilo Vilaplana, is directing.

Juana María Torres, director of Original Production at Lifetime, told PRODU that each of the ten episodes is a unique story that addresses women universal issues such as love, heartbreak, illusion, pain, deception, and even violence, and also deals with current situations such as human trafficking, surrogacy, and love relationships through social networks, among others.

The first episodes will feature a leading Latin American cast, including Lupita Ferrer (on her return to TV screens), Érika de la Rosa, Gabriela Vergara, Gabriel Porras, Mark Tacher, Francisco Gattorno, Juan Pablo Llano, Victor Cámara, among others.

“Lifetime needed this type of project because what works best on the channel is fiction, both series and movies with strong women in front of and behind the camera, and that is what differentiates us from other networks. With this in mind and the success of these stories, we launched this production with a Latin American point of view and a Latin flavor, and that is how we joined forces with VIP 2000, Casablanca, and Yahayra Films,” explained Carmen Larios, Senior VP of Production and Programming at Lifetime.

The big difference with other Lifetime productions is that the script is designed from the point of view of Latin American women as well as the locations, said Larios

Torres shared that they are very happy with the results of the first three episodes. “It’s a challenge for the whole team because in only one hour we have to tell a story and engage the audience from the first minutes until the end”.

Regarding the protocols, she said that they have many exteriors, but in closed spaces, they open all the windows. The entire team is tested and wears masks that the cast takes off only to record. In addition to provisions of alcohol gel everywhere.

“We have great expectations because there are no productions such as this in Latin America and with a first-rate cast that hasn’t been seen in front of the camera for a long time,” said César Sabroso, Senior VP of Marketing for A+E Networks Latin America.

Regarding other premieres, Larios announced that every week they release a movie and that on Monday 14 they will launch the French police series Morgana: La Detective Genial. Starring Audrey Fleurot, it is a story that mixes the police genre with drama and comedy.
