NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises appoints Karen Barroeta to SVP, Marketing and Creative for Telemundo Networks

NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises announced the appointment of Karen Barroeta to SVP, Marketing and Creative for the Telemundo Networks. She will report to Luis Silberwasser, president of Telemundo and Universo Channel, and will continue to be based in Miami.

In her new role, Barroeta will be part of the network’s core content team and will lead the strategic development and execution of all consumer marketing initiatives across the company’s platforms, including oversight of the media buying and experiential marketing teams. She also will collaborate with the Telemundo Station Group and the NBCUniversal distribution and affiliate teams.

In addition, Barroeta will work closely with Mónica Gil, EVP, Corporate Affairs, NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, to jointly develop and oversee all NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises corporate branding and marketing initiatives across the portfolio.

“Karen has a solid track record connecting our brand with Hispanic viewers in the U.S. and abroad. Her expertise, strategic vision and deep understanding of our content and viewers’ preferences have been a tremendous asset to the organization. We are excited to have her in this key leadership position to help continue building on Telemundo’s brand and rating success,” said Silberwasser.

Prior to this announcement, Barroeta was SVP, Marketing & Creative for NBCUniversal International Networks Spanish Latin America, a five-channel joint venture with Ole Communications. In that role, she had oversight of Marketing, Communications and Creative for Universal Channel, Studio Universal, Syfy, E! Entertainment and Telemundo Internacional, with additional responsibility for Telemundo Internacional’s programming strategy across the region. Previously, she served as general manager of Telemundo Internacional, where she led the operation of the Telemundo-branded cable channel in Mexico and Latin America.
