Spark Foundry was named media record agency for NBCUniversal Telemundo Enterprises, Telemundo and Universo. They obtained the account after a formal review, in which Horizon Media lost the client after 11 years of service.

The agency, which belongs to Publicis Groupe, will be in charge of handling strategic planning, activations and analytics responsibilities across all of the two network’s communications channels. The agency will render its services from its New York office, led by Stephen Paez, Senior VP, Multicultural.

Together with the networks’ main sports franchises, including the FIFA World Cup, Spark Foundry will be responsible for promoting Telemundo’s telenovelas, superseries and reality formats. The agency will have similar tasks for Universo.

“Spark Foundry prevailed in the competitive pitch partly because of its Hispanic and tune-in expertise and its ability to harness data and tech to produce innovative solutions,” expressed NBCUniversal in a press statement.

According to research conducted by Kantar Media, Universo´s ad budget was US$427 thousand between January and September 2017, a drop compared to the US$551 thousand of past recent years. Telemundo spent US$6.44 million on advertising during the first nine months of 2017, compared to the US$10.07 million in the same period the previous year.
