Los Enviados, the original VIS series directed by Juan Jose Campanella and produced by its company 100 Bares, is one of the titles to be launched soon by Paramount+, commented Douglas Craig, Senior Content Strategy VP of ViacomCBS during his intervention in the keynote series of global streamers on the second day of Mipcom.

Craig mentioned that Paramount+ exhibits 70% of global content and 30% of local programming produced in markets such as Latin America, where they have the VIS studios, as well as in 25 other countries.

He highlighted that throughout 2022 and 2023 the expansion of Paramount+ will focus on Europe. The service is currently in 19 countries.

He mentioned that the strategy is to position themselves as the third or fourth streaming service in those markets. “We are competitive in prices, we have different contents in diverse genres. We have new films and series that attract new subscribers to the platform and the children´s content that makes them stay with us” he added.

He explained that Paramount+ will be in charge of the European market in large countries such as the United Kingdom, Italy, Germany, and Ireland, but through the Sky Showtime alliance (with Comcast) a total of 20 countries will be served, the smaller ones. “Both services are mutually excluding” he furthered.

He listed three aspects for the AVOD and SVOD businesses to be successful: excellent content, excellent user experience, and marketing for those interested to be able to discover the service.

Along with Craig, Filippa Wallestam, EVP and Chief Content Officer at NENT Group, also took part, speaking about the European platform viaplay.
