Argentine director Luciano Podcaminsky will now contribute his talent to Garage Films in the U.S. Hispanic market. The executive producers of the company in the United States, Fermín Vilanova and Jose Escobar, said they are “very happy with his arrival.” Podcaminsky will contribute his expertise in directing actors and comedy productions to strengthen Garage`s roster in this market. “He is a director with a great professional background, very much admired in the Hispanic market, highly respected by both creatives and agencies. He has lived in Los Angeles and is familiar with the multicultural Latino profile. That’s why we aim to evolve with his help in this new stage the industry is going through,” Escobar added. Podcaminsky said it’s a great opportunity to be in a production company like Garage with such an interesting team in both its professional and human aspects. “In today’s increasingly competitive market,” he said, “I see Garage Films as extremely focused on every detail. For example, I was pleasantly surprised by the effort they put into treatments, screenings and sales. That’s what sets it apart from the competition.”According to the filmmaker, experience these days is an important plus: “Though there was a moment when a huge variety of new directors and production companies emerged, the current trend in the global market is to turn once again to production companies and directors with greater experience.” Podcaminsky said that at the moment there is a great tendency towards unifying the general and Hispanic markets: “Target audiences are becoming increasingly alike and many productions are used equally across both markets. But I feel the Latino culture always leads us to want more, to go the extra mile and never give up, and also to be better prepared, because we Hispanic directors and creatives have an open mind and are sufficiently flexible to face these changes and adapt to everything.” Garage Films is represented by Isabel Echeverria of Kontakto in the U.S. Hispanic and general markets.
