The Quarantine shows off Altered.LA´s Production Capabilities During A Crisis

Marcos Cline de AlteredLa

Marcos Cline, Founder and Executive Producer of Altered.LA, has created The Quarantine, a website that will air short films that its directors and cinematographers whipped up in 24 hours while confined to limited spaces due to the coronavirus quarantine. They will upload one of their short films daily to the production company’s social networks. The initiative arose from an ad agency exploring the idea of having several directors shooting scenes in their homes for a campaign. “It was a great chance for us to determine three different things: the potential locations, who the talent would be and the skills needed behind the cameras” Cline said. The producer added that “a month and a half after locking ourselves up in our homes, we were all a bit anxious to film something. There was obviously little time to deliver a presentation so we established the goal of making each of the videos in 24 hours – and it worked wonderfully! The interesting thing is how we are all living through this quarantine. Some are in houses, others in apartments, and in the case of Franco Garuti, on his boat. It has definitely worked as an exercise for showing off our abilities but also as a novel form of creative expression.” The Quarantine is an affirmation of the industry`s creativity and the different ways there are to produce brand content despite the pandemic. “We believe there are ways to reach our clients´ target audiences with relevant stories while maintaining the quality that has always defined us,” Cline said. “We have many resources available, from 2D animation and 3D graphics with archive material to our directors and cinematographers at home with their families and cameras.”
