Producer Sergio Agüero is joining forces with Jaime Dávila Jr.’s Los Angeles-based Campanario Entertainment, the recently launched production company behind Telemundo’s hit telenovela Camelia La Texana. Agüero, best known for his work with crossover international talent and intellectual property (Red Band Society, No Reservations, Y Tu Mamá También), has been pairing up with leading showrunners on international formats to set up projects at FOX, NBC, and ABC for the past three years and is also the executive producer of Pantelion’s upcoming release Aztec Warrior, an action-comedy packed with universally appealing Mexican iconography.”Latin America, the U.S. Hispanic community, and Spain are bursting with phenomenal storytelling and fresh talent to drive mainstream entertainment,” says Agüero. On the scripted front, Campanario and Agüero will develop primetime broadcast and cable shows, often working from already proven material, be it formats, films, novels, or successful brands. Jaime co-founded Campanario with his father, Jaime Dávila Sr., a former Chairman and CEO of Univision Network and also formerly COO at Televisa. Capitalizing on this experience, reality producer Ben Parrish has also joined Campanario from Stone & Company Entertainment. In his new role as head of Non-Scripted Programming, Parrish will continue to focus on formats that will translate to both the U.S. and International markets, while also leveraging Campanario’s brand relationships. As a part of their complete content development strategy, Campanario’s team also includes former Fonovisa President, Guillermo Santiso, and 18-year marketing executive, Diana Mejía-Jones.Campanario Entertainment will soon announce details of their 2015 Spanish-language scripted projects including an animated children’s series, a youth-oriented series by the writers of Violetta, and a remake of a hit Korean mini-series. They plan to announce their English-language and unscripted projects in the coming months.
