Canal Once: We present the series Yo Soy Yo with a strong multi platform presence to raise awareness about discrimination among youth

Maribel Ramos-Weiner| 3 de marzo de 2016

On March 3 at 8:30pm, Canal Once will launch its new original series Yo Soy Yo (13×20’), with the support of the Comisión Nacional para Prevenir la Discriminación (Conapred-National Commision for the Prevention of Discrimination), aimed to raise awareness about discrimination among youth. The series will have multi-platform presence, mainly on its official YouTube channel and on other screens such as VOD.In an interview with PRODU, Ana Zepeda, producer of the series mentioned that it is the third production they make with support from this institution (the previous two were the first and second seasons of Kipalta), but now aimed at young people.“The purpose is to raise awareness on the various types of discrimination among young people. We think an easy way to reach the target goal is by using language close to theirs. It is a challenge to tell a story in a few minutes and summarize such a sensitive topic as discrimination, but we think fiction is always a good method to express this type of action”, she commented.Meanwhile, the director of Canal Once, Jimena Saldaña, stated that “this channel is a good window to reach young people. We will broadcast this production on our different platforms. We will upload the episodes on YouTube and have them on VOD. We are also in conversations with other companies so that they can air it”.Yo Soy Yo narrates the life of three youngsters who are victims of discrimination, but become aware of their circumstances and create a group that defends the right to diversity.
