Pantelion Films: No Manches Frida has all the characteristics to succeed in several LatAm markets

Maribel Ramos-Weiner| 16 de septiembre de 2016

No Manches Frida, has collected around US$7.5 million and is on its way to becoming Pantelion Films' second most successful film

No Manches Frida by Pantelion Films, that debuted in 1.135 movie theaters in Mexico Friday September 16 and which has already been in US cinemas for three weeks, is a film with all the elements to succeed in several markets in the region, stated Edward Allen, COO of Pantelion and producer of the film, and Jim McNamara, Chairman of the company.

“I don’t think Latin America has achieved a film industry commercial enough to cross borders but this film has all the characteristics to do just that,” expressed McNamara.

To date, No Manches Frida, has collected around US$7.5 million and is on its way to becoming Pantelion Films’ second biggest blockbuster, after the success of No se Aceptan Devoluciones (Instructions Not Included). “It is a great success if we take into account that it was released in 300 movie theaters in the 70 cities with the highest concentration of Latinos. A Hollywood film is launched in 3 thousand theaters,” they explained.

Allen, who was behind the negotiation of the rights to make No Manches Frida -it is a version of the German Fack ju Göhte– and who had the vision of coproducing it, was attracted to it mostly because it is a universal story, since it revolves around a school where there are all sorts of characters that are appealing for younger audiences.

Aside from Mexico and the US, No Manches Frida will debut in October in Central America, Peru, Colombia, Bolivia, Ecuador and Chile.

McNamara stated that for 2017 they have already advanced several projects, including How to be a Latin Lover with Eugenio Derbez.
