Telemundo presented in Mexico City its new super production Lobo, Morir Matando, which premiered this Tuesday the 17th on its screens. The event was attended by its lead actors Arap Bethke, Fátima Molina, and Alejandro de la Madrid, along with the rest of the cast of this ambitious production, who walked the red carpet.

During the event, producer Gabriela Valentán highlighted that the project faced significant challenges in a market where platforms now set the visual standard.

“It was a complex process because projects are increasingly more challenging from a production standpoint. We have to deliver high quality, as audiences are now accustomed to the new narratives of streaming platforms,” she explained.

Valentán emphasized that the goal was to compete in production value even with tighter budgets: “With a smaller budget, we aimed to compete with the visual quality of what’s being done on the platforms.”

The series maintains Telemundo’s DNA within the genre but with an emotional twist: “Lobo has that element, but with a greater focus on family, on love, on what truly matters in terms of the heart.”

JAVIER PONS RECOGNIZES THE WORK ON LOBO

After the red carpet, Telemundo Studios’ Head and Chief Content Officer, Javier Pons, took the stage to thank the team and invite the audience to watch the first episode.

“Thank you all very much… especially the team that made Lobo, Morir Matando possible.”

He acknowledged the technical crew’s work: “They are wonderful. They endure very tough special conditions… far from their families, all for the excitement of a project.”

He also celebrated the emotional impact of the story: “We were looking for something different here… how this wounded character, Lobo… is transformed when the heart of a nine-year-old girl reaches him.”

CAST SHARES THEIR EXPERIENCE IN SPECIAL PANEL

Following Pons’ remarks, a panel was held featuring Arap Bethke, Alejandro de la Madrid, Fátima Molina, and young actress Camille Mina, who spoke about their experience in this story of tension, emotion, and redemption.

Meanwhile, the producer added that the driving force of the plot is not just action, but the transformation of its characters: “We’re not only looking at who is going to die next, but also what comes next for this man who finds this girl.”

She defined the heart of the series as a story about human bonds: “It’s a story about filial love, about friends, alliances, clans… about the strength we have when we are united.”

80 EPISODES IN RECORD TIME

One of the most relevant aspects of the project is its industrial scale. Valentán confirmed that filming wrapped on February 12.

“We finished on February 12 — 80 episodes over the course of 15 and a half weeks.”

The production was filmed mainly in Mexico City, adapting the original concept: “The original story was supposed to be a road movie, but we decided it would work better as a hideout — and what better place to hide than Mexico City?”

Additionally, the series opted for a tangible execution with minimal special effects: “I made sure we used as few special effects as possible, that everything feels more tangible — all the events are real,” she concluded.
