Castalia Communications: The business is evolving towards quality

Castalia Communications is commercialing in Latin America quality signals such as the Smithsonian Channel, the Chinese channel CCTV, BBC World News (launched this year in HD) and English Club.

Miguel Torres-Bohl, Sales and Mareting VP in Latin America, commented that the Smithsonian Channel is an HD channel that was launched in May 2018 in the entire region through DIRECTV. “The cable operator that takes the linear signal in HD has the option of receiving a number of hours of content in VOD. They is also content in 4K, DIRECTV has it on their platform too,” he specified.

“The market is moving, evolving. We launched Smithsonian Channel at a time when it might be too favorable. But 18 years ago, when NatGeo was launched it was said that it was too late to launch, and look at where National Geographic is now. The most important thing is brand and production quality, and the wish that the audience can access a good quality product. The business is evolving for the audience to have more quality options,” he detailed.
